Cross-country Trip

Plant Utah is gearing up for a cross-country trip from Utah to Richmond, VA to attend ICOM (International Conference on Missions). We will have a booth there so if you are attending please stop by and see us! Along the way, we will make stops in Cheyenne, WY (Oct 19th),  Hillsboro, MO (Oct 25th), Cabool, MO (Nov 4th), and Houston, MO (Nov 8th). We will be connecting with those who have already invested in the gospel through Plant Utah and hope to make new connections with churches and individuals who may become church planters/missionaries, team members or supporters.

Polygamy Outreach

While our focus is church planting, Chandra has spent much of her ministry time trying to help those fleeing polygamy. Over the past year we have housed 7 different individuals whom have either been kicked out of their polygamous community or have fled for various reasons. Today, there are numerous people who are looking to leave yet have no place to go. When you leave these groups you usually have to flee with the clothes on your back, leaving people without the basic necessities. There are a few organizations set up to help those leaving polygamy but they have little, to no, presence here in Utah County, despite the fact this is home to one of the largest polygamous groups in Utah.

In July, we began construction on our basement to build an apartment for those fleeing their polygamous communities. We are trying our best to do this project ourselves to save money on labor. We’ve been blessed to have several people come help us with construction. However, one mission team had to cancel their trip due to medical reasons, so we still need lots of help. If this is something you are interested in let us know.

If you, your small group, church, etc would like to hear more about being a part of our missionary efforts here in Utah, either through church planting or polygamy ministry let us know! We are happy to come share!

Happy 1st Birthday

Utah Valley Church, Plant Utah’s first church plant, celebrated its first birthday in September! This first year has been a great learning and growing experience. We continue to meet in our home and attendance has really grown the past couple months.

Our gathering is on Sunday evenings, but there seems to be a strong interest to offer a Sunday morning service as well. We pray this will become a reality within the next few months.

New Churches

We are in the process of adding a new church planter to the Plant Utah family. Grant (a former Mormon) and Terri Clark, from Cheyenne, WY will be planting The Crossing Church in West Jordan, Utah. Please be praying for Grant and Terri as they settle into their new neighborhood and begin to develop relationships with their community. Pray also for God to send the right people to be part of their team.

We have been blessed to connect with another new team who will be planting a church on the other side of Spanish Fork later next year. In the meantime, this team is worshipping with Utah Valley Church and helping out with preaching and worship. We’re really excited to have them here and can’t wait to help them get another Christian church planted in our city.

Anderson Family Update

We are all doing well. Noah made the swim team and spent most of his summer at the pool. We all enjoyed watching him swim. Isaiah and Nehemiah spent most of their days playing with their friends, riding bikes, playing football, etc. Moriah spent her days being a little mommy to her dolls and Judah. She also broke her arm and spent a few weeks in cast. Judah continues to grow and develop his own little personality.

We also had several visitors this summer. Some came just to visit, others to help with the transitional housing unit during the archery elk season.

This busyness of summer has finally come to a close, school is back in session and people are resuming their normal way of life. We are enjoying a more regular schedule but are also gearing up for all the ministry opportunities ahead.

Prayer Needs:

Everyday at 9:38pm we pray for God to send workers to Spanish Fork. Will you take the 9:38 challenge and pray Matthew 9:38 with us everyday? Here are some specific things you can pray for Plant Utah:

  • Our next church plant
  • Churches to partner financially
  • Churches to send “workers”
  • That ICOM will be fruitful
  • That we can continue to raise awareness of the need for a stronger evangelical presence in Utah as there are numerous cities without a single evangelical church
