Holy Smokes

Summer is over and Fall is officially here! We have celebrated new relationships, new beginnings, new life, and mourned broken relationships and earthly losses. I am reminded of Romans 12:15, “Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.” Some of you know we have had forest fires very close to home the last few weeks (really the past couple of months). As I sit here looking out over the smoke-filled mountains, I am in awe of God and His sovereignty. When the fires in our lives seem to rage, He is still at work. Just as forest fires need to burn for new, healthy growth, our character needs a holy fire lit in order to renew and transform us to become more like Him. So, with the new season upon us may we each see the season of life He has brought us to and through.

Plant Utah Update

We hosted our first Pastors’ Wives and daughters retreat in May. It was a wonderful time to share our successes, failures, and encourage one another. It was a weekend to remember. Great gospel conversations, swimming, sunshine, and Cinderella!

We continue to network with churches around the US to plant disciple-making communities in cities that are less than 2% evangelical. We are thankful for new partnerships for our current church plants and our upcoming 2019 church plant.

Last year we identified a planter who originally planned on planting in Salem, Utah. However, we recently learned of another church planting effort targeting Salem. Join us in praying for wisdom in the matter as well as where the next disciple-making community should be planted. We will be spotlighting a few cities in our amazing state over the next few months.

If you are interested in learning more or having Plant Utah come to speak to your church, staff, mission team, etc send us an email.

Utah Valley Church – Spanish Fork, UT

Utah Valley Church (UVC) just celebrated their 4th birthday in September. UVC started in the home of Matthew and Chandra Anderson in 2014 and now has 3 micro-churches, meeting throughout the week, along with a Sunday morning worship gathering, connecting over 100 people to Gospel-centered, disciple-making communities.

Utah Valley Church had multiple baptisms each month over the summer and hosted mission teams from Texas, Missouri, and Kansas.

The Crossing – West Jordan, UT

Grant and Terri Clark are settling into their new family unit after adopting three brothers in May. They continue to meet in their home on a weekly basis and also disciple those that have been placed in their paths. Join the Clarks in praying for their core team and disciple-making community.

Gospel Life – St. George, UT

Cody and Rachael Harris are meeting in their home regularly, engaging in community activities and living out what it means to “love your neighbor”. Pray for mature, committed believers to come alongside as they make disciples who make disciples.
